Food Analysis

In Empiria Labs we specialize in the application of high-resolution technology to determine toxic components in food processing at all stages of production. We use only validated methods and procedures for chemistry testing including FDA, USDA, AOAC, USP and other validated protocols developed by customers or Empiria’s “in-house” methods. Most of our procedures include accelerated solid extraction (ASE-350), QuEChERS extraction, solid phase extraction (SPE) previous to its analysis by a specific analytical technique. Our food chemistry testing includes:

Multi-residual pesticides by GC/MSMS and LC/MSMS

Dithiocarbamates by LC/MSMS

Mycotoxins-Aflatoxins by LC/MSMS

Trace Metals (Hg, As, Pb, Cd + 24 additional metals) by ICP/MS or ICP/OES

Methyl mercury by GC/MSMS

Persistent Organic Pollutants as established in the Stockholm Convention:

Polychlorinated Dibenzo(p)dioxins (PCDD)

Polychlorinated Dibenzofurans (PCDF)

Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB)

Organochlorinated Pesticides ( Aldrin, Chlordane, DDT, Dieldrin, Endrin, Heptachlor, Mirex, Hexachlorobenzene (HCB), Toxaphene

Recently, the above list has been updated to include the following:

α-Hexachlorocyclohexane (α-HCH)

β-Hexachlorocyclohexane (β-HCH)

Chlordecone

Hexabromocyclododecane

Hexa + Heptabromodiphenylether

Lindane

Pentachlorobenzene

Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid

Endosulphan

Tetra + Pentabromodiphenylether
