PUBLICATIONS & RESEARCH
Empiria Labs is very proud and grateful for our Scientific Advisor- Dr. Jorge E. Cortes’ scientific contribution in the Petroleum Geochemistry area which has allowed us to have a better understanding of the origin, paleoenvironmental deposition, thermal maturity, and biodegradation processes of the petroleum systems in Llanos, Middle Magdalena, Sinu-Jacinto, Tumaco, and Catatumbo basins.
Dr. Jorge E. Cortes Lopera Scientific Contribution:
Dr. Cortes has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from AIU, Florida. He completed his experimental thesis work titled “Organic Geochemistry of Crude Oils from Llanos Basin Colombia” at the University of Oklahoma under the mentorship and guidance of Dr Franklin Valcin (AIU) and Dr. R. Paul Philp in the Geology and Geophysics School, Organic Geochemistry Laboratory in Norman, Oklahoma. In 2011, Dr. Cortes concluded his post-Doctoral work with Dr. Philp on high molecular weight hydrocarbons using high temperature gas chromatography (HTGC) and diamondoid hydrocarbons in Condensates by GC/FID and SIM-GC/MS.
At the present time, Dr. Cortes is a Geoscience Ph.D. candidate at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia working on his Doctoral Thesis titled: “Burial History, thermal maturity, and hydrocarbon generation potential of the Petroleum systems of the forearc and backarc in the Pacific and Caribbean continental margins in Colombia” under direction of Professor Dr Carlos A. Vargas.
Scientific publications and research by Dr. Jorge E. Cortes include:

ABOUT EMPIRIA LABS
We are a full-equipped laboratory with world-class facilities and the state-of-the-art instrumentation for organic trace compounds as Dioxins, PCBs, PAHs and other persistant organic pollutants in water, soil/sediment, air, vegetable, food products.
We use a dedicated instrumentation to certify medical cannabis for cannabinoid profile and potency, terpenes, solvent residue, pesticides, mycotoxins, heavy metals, foreign material, water activity and humidity.
